Monet Hurst-Mendoza is an NYC-based playwright and director from Los Angeles, CA. Her plays include The Annex,Homecoming (Bare Bones Ensemble, 2010 Work(s) in Progress Festival), In The Waiting Line, Shangri-L.A., Lilia,Jane’s Room (Looking Glass Theatre, 2010 Spring Writer/Director Forum), and Veil’d (Rising Circle Theater Collective, INKtank/PlayRISE Festival 2010, 2012 The Refinery in conjunction with Queens College; | the claque | 2011 QuaDs Series). Monet holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts, with concentrations in directing and playwriting from Marymount Manhattan College, where she received the 2009 Gold Key for Excellence in Theatre Arts, Writing for the Stage. She was a finalist for Hangar Theatre’s 2010 Playwriting Residency, Youngblood’s 2009 and 2010 play development group at Ensemble Studio Theatre, the 2011 Old Vic New Voices T.S. Elliot US/UK Exchange, the Lark Play Development Center’s 2011 Playwright’s Week and 2012 Van Lier Fellowship. She is a two-time semifinalist for the Juilliard School Playwriting Fellowship (2012 & 2013) and the 2012-2014 Women’s Project Playwrights Lab. Most recently, her work has been seen at #serials at The Flea and Playwright's Playground at The Classical Theater of Harlem. Actor: Madame Bovary, Playwright: Going Away
Sam recently earned his MFA at NYU Grad Acting. Among his recent credits are I wasn't Going to Tell Anybody (a new play by Adam Bock), The Fortress of Solitude (Created by Michael Friedman and Daniel Aukin) and The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov. Other work includes performances with The Guthrie Theater, The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, Williamstown Theater Festival, Pipeline Theater Company and De Facto Dance. Film: I Love You With All My Teeth, BTW, Phoebe in Wonderland. Sam also earned his BFA from Tisch, NYU and the Atlantic Acting School. He studied playwriting with Dominic Taylor (Bard College), Jacqueline Allen and Sandra Ruiz(NYU). Going Away was Sam’s third full-length play. He is a founding member of The Other Mirror as well as Pipeline Theatre Company.
